For a few years I’ve followed the New York Subway Takes instagram, hosted by Kareem Rahma. The first one I saw was Episode 134 which featured @aptheangel - It was really funny. I looked at his page and saw that he was a photographer. I was drawn to one image in particular of Vince Staples (who I didn’t know at the time) performing with an inhaler in his mouth. I thought it was so cool and unique. I messaged him asking if I could draw it and after a while he replied back hell yeah. It took a little while- 3 months of intermittent drawing sessions. But to date it’s my joint favourite drawing that I’ve done, and the one I’m most proud of- the best showcase of my skills for sure. I’ve tried many times to reach out to Vince Staples to see if he’d want it (I figured he’d be the most appropriate owner of the original) the closest I’ve got is his fan account and manager posting it on their insta stories.
